Rampion is an offshore wind farm development by E.ON, off the Sussex coast in the UK. The wind farm has a capacity of 400 MW.
The Rampion Offshore Wind Farm supplies enough green energy to power the equivalent of almost 350,000 homes2 – around half the homes in Sussex – and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 600,0003 tonnes a year. Installation of the 116 turbines was completed in September 2018 when Rampion became the first offshore wind farm off the UK’s south coast.
Brighton Rampion Centre
Climate change, renewable energy and our planet’s future are brought into sharp focus at an exciting new attraction on Brighton seafront. Brighton Rampion Centre opened on 10th September 2020.
The aim of the centre is to increase awareness and understanding of the wind farm itself, as well as to raise knowledge about offshore wind energy and global climate change. It houses exhibitions, games, videos, as well as a 360˚ virtual reality (VR) experience that will take you out to the wind farm itself!
The interactive displays offers learning more about wind energy and discover the whole Rampion story since its inception over ten years ago.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions they are offering the opportunity to book an exclusive session for you and your family up to a maximum of 6 people. The booking slot will be for 30 minutes and you will be the only ones in the centre, along with their Visitor Centre staff. This will enable you to have a safe and relaxing experience, without worrying about the need for social distancing.
The visitor centre will be cleaned after each visit, for your peace of mind.
Easy to get to and completely accessible for wheelchair users, the Visitor Centre is a short walk from the City centre, Brighton Pier and other City landmarks, and is close to cycle routes, bus and train connections.
The Visitor Centre is FREE to enter and forms part of the £4million Rampion Community Fund, voluntarily created for the Sussex community.
